One of the best ways to live sustainably is by buying less and caring for the styles that are already in your closet. With that in mind, these simple tips can help you care for each part of your P448 sneakers, extending the lifetime of your favorite shoes so you can wear the styles you love, longer.
Leather
Our sneakers are made from high-quality Italian leather. We recommend pre-treating shoes with a protective leather spray to shield your shoes from debris & stains. Maintaining your leather with regular cleaning is the best way to keep them in top condition.
We recommend using a lightly damp cotton or microfiber cloth to gently brush dirt away. Ensure shoes are completely dry before wearing again and are not dried in direct sunlight or high heat sources to avoid cracking the leather. Condition the leather once a month to protect against damage so you can wear P448 for years to come.
Suede
Suede is a delicate material with special care needs. Avoid getting shoes wet. For day to day dirt and debris, we recommend purchasing a suede brush. Using your suede brush, use small motions to lightly buff away debris, always brushing in the direction of the natural fiber to maintain a smooth finish. We recommend bringing suede shoes with more difficult or set stains to a cleaning expert.
Specialty Materials
Our P448 designs push the boundaries of footwear by choosing unique specialty materials, some of which require particular care. This includes haircalf, glitter, denim, sponge, and others. These materials are often delicate and difficult to clean. Try to avoid wet or muddy areas when wearing and bring to a cleaning expert when dirty or stained.
Fabric Materials
Knit fabrics can be cleaned by brushing away excess dirt or debris with a soft bristled shoe brush or toothbrush. Set stains can be cleaned by combining warm water and a small amount of laundry detergent. Using a soft cloth clean stains in a circular motions, wiping away excess detergent with a damp cloth. Avoid bleaching agents for white shoes as they may cause discoloration. Do not submerge shoes in water as it can affect the structure of the shoe. Let shoes air dry before wearing.
Classic Laces
Our classic cotton laces are a breeze to clean. Simply run under warm water and loosen debris with a toothbrush. Next, put your laces in a garment bag and run on a normal laundry cycle with warm water and detergent. Hang to dry.
Specialty Laces
Some of our shoes have laces made from specialty materials including satin, grosgrain and chiffon. Using a soft bristled toothbrush, gently brush off any excess dirt from the shoelaces. For harder to remove stains, mix two parts cold water to one part mild detergent and use a soft brush to remove. Squeeze out any excess water and lay flat to dry.
Soles
For rubber soles, a damp cloth can be used to wipe away dirt. Use a shoe brush to remove materials stuck in the bottom of the shoe. For white soles you can use a piece of new white rubber to erase scuff and dirt marks. For colored or distressed soles we recommend using a damp cloth to remove surface dirt. Do not scrub vigorously.
